VT 800 C, the strongest Shadow?
The Honda Shadow fans were astonished by a very interesting model in the year 1988; the VT 800 C (RC32) was born.
It is interesting among other reasons, because VT 800 cc model neither before nor after was not at the Honda, at least in the V2 custom category.
It replaced the rare model of VT 700, but unfortunately, it’s rise was short, after the 88 model year the production was put up. But I think it was a Shadow with exceptional properties.
It’s 45 degree V2 engine had a heavy bore x stroke ratio (79.5x80.6 mm), and this gave 74 horsepower at 7500 rpm. The word literally, it’s RPM and piston displacement proportional efficiency offered much more than a relaxed, slow-running cruiser and it had all these properties in standard condition.
We know the VT-s can be tuned, but apart from the brutal VTX and a couple of 1100 VT from the U.S. internal market, the 800 was the most powerful factory-model of the Shadow middle class.
Some thoughts about the birth of VTX
2012 jan.1.
You might have read in VTX part of the Issue „Honda Shadow” that the VTX-s are the biggest VT-s of the 2000 years and the power cruiser 1.8 was produced first in large seria worldwide.
I have been at all times interested in the prototypes of the Honda VT custom bikes, even in their drafts and in the stealthily made photos about the trial runs of the new pieces.
It is not a question that the 1.8, the „big X” was born as a model of the 1100 one (except the front self-starter, the 52 degree V position of the cylinder and the injection). The clutch cover and the other designs are similar just everything become bigger.
The Honda had a proto-idea, which was titled by the name Zodia, and it did not skimp on the extravagant design.
